What size should a YouTube thumbnail be?
1280 × 720 px (16:9) is the recommended upload size, minimum width 640 px, under 2 MB, in JPG, PNG, GIF or WEBP. YouTube displays the same file at ~360px on the homepage, ~400px in search, full-width on mobile, and as small as 168px in the sidebar — so text must survive at 120px. Use the legibility strip above: if you can't read the 3 biggest words at 120px, simplify.
How long should a YouTube title be?
YouTube allows 100 characters, but most surfaces truncate around 55–70 characters (about 2 lines on desktop, fewer on mobile and sidebar). Front-load the hook: the truncation table on the left shows exactly where your current title gets cut in each layout. Aim for under 60 characters for full visibility.
